Dream Dancing

Review

One of South Africa's more successful exports to the world of jazz vocals and what was medicines loss has defiantly been music's gain, yes Esther was a medical student at UCT in Cape Town sometime ago, that's another story.

Since she moved to the UK she has grown in stature and now with her move from Birmingham to London and the release of her third album Dream Dancing has shown she has moved into a new realm. There are some fabulous musicians involved with the project and Gerry Spencer has once again shown his true talent as an arranger, not bad for a butcher Huh!

The CD contains a well chosen selection of GAS (Great American Songbook) tunes as well as one written by both Miller and Spencer again highlighting the her underlying talent as a songwriter with Gerry proving once again a solid tunesmith.

Her version of My Funny Valentine is out standing with the full use of all the lyrics as written Richard Rodgers and Lorenz Hart. Each track will evoke something different to each listener. Esther has grownup form the lost little girl singer she was once and the maturity and confidence shows with this album. She has found her voice and proves she can sing very well indeed.
